Hi Everyone!

Ok, I am going to back track on this one a little bit.  Last year I had the DISTINCT & most HONORED pleasure of planning probably one of the most special & one of the most heartwarming events of my career.  This special event confirmed to me that love can last and marriage is truely one-of-a-kind.  The event that I planned was the 50th wedding annivesary of Liza’s parents.  It was such a lovely event surrounded by all of their beautiful daughters & their families!  Both Liza & her other sister Clari had contracted me to do this amazing and wonderful event and I loved every minute of it!

So when it came time to plan Liza’s wedding, Liza & Clari once again decided that having a wedding planner for Liza’s important day was extremely important.  She wanted to ENJOY her wedding rather that having to STRESS over her day.

Liza & Sakis had a beautiful wedding held at the Briscoe Manor.  She incorporated both cultures from her and her fiance’s background.  She had lovely Greek music playing during the cocktail hour and surprised her guests with a group of high school Greek Dancers to entertain throughout dinner.  And decided to open the dance floor to Suavamente by Elvis Crespo. 

To Liza & Sakis being of Mexican & Greek culture, respectively was very important to them.  They wanted to display their proud culture and traditions.  I love it when couples incorporate their cultures into the wedding.  And guess who blessed the dinner?  Her 4 yearl old nephew!  He was just sooo cute!  He blessed the food with “God is good, God it great, Let us thank him for our food.  How to we eat quietly!”

Here are some AMAZING pictures graciously provided by the lovely LOVELEE PHOTOGRAPHY!  Margaret did such and amazing job and captured the Groom’s PANATHINAIKOS themed cake so well!  It was too much fun.  Thanks LoveLee!  Oooh forgot about the cute dog that was part of the wedding, You rock Rocky M.D.! :-)

Hi everyone!

I had the pleasure of planning this lovely couple’s yacht wedding.  That’s right Yacht wedding!  It was my very first time planning a wedding on a boat.  I must say it was fun!  The boat, the water, the yacht lifestyle…aahhhh I could really get used to that! Ahhh…yacht, lavish living…uh?  oh sorry drifted away for a bit! ;-)

Anyway, Charlotte & Kristofer were such a gorgeous and wonderfully sweet couple.  They both love to fish and what better place to have a wedding?  So you can say that the theme of this event was based on water, boat, & fish. 

I enjoyed planning this unique and wonderful wedding with Charlotte.  She knew what she wanted and had fun & youthful tastes.

Lotion & Handmade Candles – Z’handmade

Whenever I find interesting items that are handmade, it just seems to be extra special.  The thought of someone giving me something so special as a handmade lotion or a handmade candle makes me feel as if I was important in their lives.

Jessica + Chris 5.15.10

Jessica & Chris where such a delight to work with!  The couple lives in Colorado but wanted to have their wedding in Katy, TX where Chris’ mother lives.

They wanted a back yard “Texas Chic” Wedding.  The bride from Colorado wanted to incorporate some Southern Twang into her wedding.  So she wore cowboy boots! : )  It was so cute!  The minister was what I would say a Gothic cowboy!  He was so sweet!  He wore a Black cowboy hat, black nail polish, and a kilt.

What was different about their ceremony is that they had a  toast in the middle of the ceremony.  They offered each guest a glass of champagne and toasted them for bringing them together.  It was so touching.  They exited dancing to “White Wedding” from Billy Idol.

They also did a BBQ in the back yard and decided to use the Bandana as their main color scheme.  With gorgeous flowers provided by the ever amazing Carmen with Carmen’s Floral design, the flowers, food, cake, & complete ambiance exceeded the couple’s expectations!

It just happened that on this day it RAINED!! ALOT!!  It rained the night before and all day on May 15.  We were worried that the wedding would get rained out. Since it was an outdoor wedding, the rain plan was to have a tent set up and ready to go.  Low and behold after much prayer the rain stopped!  2 hours before the ceremony.  Just in time!

With the glistening of the raindrops and the gorgeous sunset that God had provided us, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!  With just a little change of plan we were able to execute an excellent event.  We used the tent for the tables, chairs, &  food.  The ceremony was still held outdoors.  We were lucky enough to have nice flooring to use.

Here are some pics that the lovely Carmen with Carmen’s Floral design took for me.  Unfortunately I accidentally deleted all my pics. :(   I had lovely pics of the bandana cake, the tabasco place cards, the centerpieces, fans, & the fun set up.  But Carmen saved the day!  Here are a few pics!

Hi Everyone!
While I am waiting for the fabulous pics from the photographer I’ve decided to go ahead and blog about this wedding. Please be advise (time and time again..LOL) I am not a good photographer!

I recently did a beautiful wedding of Yanh & Travis. They are such a cute & bubbly couple.  Yanh was so sweet & fun to be with and her fiance Travis was always by her side planning it along with her.  I love it when fiances are involved.

This was a day of coordinating event so many of her vendors were already selected. All her vendors where wonderful to work with!  Take a look at the cake!  9 layers!!

Reception was held at Ocean Palace Restaurant in Houston,TX…OK I have to send a shout out to them..IF YOU LOVE CHINESE/VIETNAMESE food…you LOVE LOVE THEM!! OH my the food was some of the best food at a wedding. It was delish!

Courtney + Ben 4.30.10

What can I say about Courtney & Ben? They were such a sweet couple that every minute of the planning was  fun & fantastic!

Along with her SUPER MOM Toni, we planned an amazing event! She and her mom made for an amazing team!  They were such a wonderfully organized duo and knew exactly what they wanted! Watching the cohesion between the two of them and fun that they shared with each other made me SMILE! It warmed my heart and made me think of my little one and wished the same for when she gets married.

Courtney & Ben, congratulations and may you have constant and forever wedding bliss!!!

The wedding & reception was held at the gorgeous Chateau Polonez in Cypress,TX .  We feared that rain would be upon us but prayed and prayed very hard that it stopped literally just in time!!! :-)

Tipping??? What???

Recently I’ve been getting a lot of questions in regards to tipping.

Brides ask, do I tip the bartender?  What about the valet parkers?  Oh, and the catering manager?

While tipping is a very touchy situation, it’s important to note that in some cases it’s almost expected to tip.  Especially  when it is an outside vendor doing your wedding vs. the facility caterer or facility baker..etc.

Here are some important points that I give to all my clients in regards to tipping.  All of these come straight from the internet and it gives a good guide in regards to tipping.  You can also refer directly to the website:

I’ll bet I know exactly what’s going through your mind right this very instant. TIPPING, WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY!?! Yes, we know, you’ve already paid an absolute fortune for those vendors and now you have to shell out some more. Sorry.Here are the general rules for tipping. Although it is generally thought to be a voluntary thing (I’d like to know who said that), there are still areas of your wedding that require tipping, but you can still use your discretion. Firstly, you may want to find out from your vendors if tipping is allowed. There are several vendors, caterers for example, that include the wages of their staff in their price. They sometimes discourage tipping. (Bet you hope to hear that a lot!) And some vendors will add gratuities to their bills. Be sure not to double tip.If you are using a wedding coordinator, they should be responsible for delivering the tips and payments to the related vendors. If not, then it should be your best man. If you don’t feel comfortable asking the best man, ask one of the fathers. All tips should be calculated and prepared in separate envelopes ahead of time, thereby making it much easier for the individual responsible to deliver the tips.FB TIPS ON TIPPING:

  • All tips should be given in cash. If the person serving you is an employee of the company, their tip should be in a separate envelope.
  • No one/single person should get more then $150.00. For example: Let’s say your limo bus is $2000.00. 10 or 15% of that total is 200 or 300 dollars, not necessary.
  • Tips should be given just before your vendor leaves. That way you can judge how much to give, according to the job they did for you.
  • All vendors would love a thank you card. It is a great reminder of happy clients and let’s face it, it’ll help them book future clients.
  • Giving vendors a favour/bomboniere is totally up to the couple and how many they can spare.

THE ONES YOU SHOULD TIP

Altar boys or girls – $10-15.00 each

Limousine Drivers – 10-15% of the limousine bill, given at the end of the evening. See “FB Tip” above.

Valet Parking Attendants – $.50 to $1.00 per car, prearrange this amount with the supervisor based on an estimate of how many cars will be arriving and a sign should be posted to guests that the gratuity has been taken care of.

Wait staff – If the tip is not on the contract already, 15% of the total catering bill is tipped. Wait staff do the hardest physical labour on your wedding day.

Bartenders – 10% of the total liquor bill, presented to the head bartender or divided equally among the total number of bartenders who worked the full evening. Make sure that a tip hasn’t been added to your contract already.

Restroom and/or Coatroom Attendants – $.50 to $1.00 per guest, prearranged again based on the number of guests.

Makeup artist or Hair Stylists – You don’t have to tip them if they come to you. If you go to the salon, then you should tip them 15%. Why you ask, well the salon makes the money, not the individual. If you have received a good job, and you would tip normally, then go ahead.

DJ – If your DJ owns the company then the tip is optional but if the DJ is an employee $50-100.00. If you have 2 DJs (DJ & MC), give each person $50.00 in separate envelopes. When your guests rave about your reception later, it’s the DJ that had everything to do with the fun.

OPTIONAL TIPPING (amounts reflect optional tips)

Business Owners – You don’t have to tip the owner of a business, unless you feel that they have gone beyond the call of duty and you want to give them a token of your appreciation.

Ceremony or Reception Musicians – $5-10/hr per person, in one lump sum given to the person in charge.

Banquet or catering manager – doesn’t need to be tipped unless they’ve thrown in extras or saved you a few hundred dollars on your bill. The tip would be between $50-$100.

Photographer and Videographer – If these vendors own the company, then the tip is optional. If they are employees $50.00 goes to the main photographer and he/she can give a split to the assistant.

Officiant – To tip them is to trivialize their profession and extremely bad etiquette. Generally you pay your fee and that’s it. If you wish to make a financial contribution to the church, you can do that separately.

Florist – You don’t need to tip the florist for making your arrangements but you can tip them an extra $5.00 per delivery location (3 locations=$15.00) or $10-20.00 per staff member in one lump sum, for set-up and delivery.

Wedding Cake Baker – You don’t have to tip for the baking of the cake but if you are at your reception venue at time of delivery and set-up = $10.00

Wedding Coordinator or Room Manager- This is the person managing the reception venues staff and facility the night of your wedding = $50.00

Your Wedding Coordinator – If this vendor owns the company, then the tip is optional. If they are an employee = $50.00

Your Wedding Planner – This person has planned your wedding from start to finish. An appropriate tip would be 10% of their total commission or bill.

This should give you some guidelines on tipping etiquette. Tipping etiquette is different in different provinces, cities and towns. Please be sure to add this to your budget. The amounts above are only examples and are not written in stone.

Catherine + Ben 3.13.10

On March 13, 2010 I had the sincere pleasure of working with such an adorable couple!  The story that her father, best man, & maid of honor described them to a T! 

Catherine was a wonderful bride who was always calm, cool, & collected and always happy! She decided to go a fresh spring time wedding. 

As this was my first time ever doing a Jewish wedding, I was truely excited to see the ceremony and get familiar with the traditions that they have.

Some of my favorite things of this wedding:

In lieu of table numbers she created a gorgeous frame with a photograph of each city that they had visited.  Guests loved going through the room looking for the Costa Rica table, New York table, or Austin table.  What was really cute about it is that we left a metallic sharpie on each table and each guest was encouraged to sign warm wishes on these frames.

Another very cute idea that I thought was very thoughtful and giving were the party favors that she had selected.  In lieu of party favors she donated money to her favorite charity!  She decided that since she loved pets so much, she donated to her local animal shelter.  Each place setting had a picture of their dog and a little note indicating the donation in  their name.

Agnes + Lam 1.23.10

So what can I tell you about my lovely bride Agnes?  She sweet, smart, & undeniably funny!!  I enjoyed planning her wedding and with her as there was NEVER a dull moment!  From the invites to her glittery gold pumps, every minute with her was like planning a dear old friend’s wedding.  Lam was as sweet as a button and one of nicest grooms you’ll ever meet.  :-)

So with that in mind Agnes had a vision of simplicity chic!  Simple, elegant, clean lines, & very very feminine.  She selected the gorgeous Hilton Hotel Post Oak.  She was the type of bride that enjoyed the planning process.  She tasted it…she touched it… she felt it and she changed it…dresses that is! ;-) She had 4 dress changes.  1. Traditional wedding dress 2.  Vietnamese wedding dress 3.  Korean wedding dress & 4. Fun party dress for dancing!

Oh, and I HAVE to talk about the cakes done by Cakes by Gina…OH MY!!!  Her wedding cake design was a complete surprise!  That’s right folks!  Cakes by Gina created this based on her wedding dress & her personality.  She wanted to give Agnes “bling bling” and made edible jewelry.  OH, not the mention the groom’s cake!!!!  Have you ever seen such a realistic bowl of Pho?  From the chopsticks to the jalapeno peppers..everything was edible!

Glenda + George 1.9.10

So here’s the story on Glenda.  I did a wedding last year in March at the Magnolia hotel in Downtown Houston.  I parked my car on the outskirts of the hotel.  Now, if anyone of you know me by now, you’ll know that I have my SUV with stickers on my car of my company name.  It’s the Events by Audrey mobile! :-)   As I get out of my car, a young lady comes up to me as ask me about my services.  She said that she thinks she might get engaged in a few months and may need a wedding planner.  We chat for a bit, I give her my card and go off my merry way to my wedding.

A few months had passed when I get a call from Glenda.  She reminded of how we met and informed me that she was getting married & that she never forgot me or lost my card.  I was soooo happy and was unexpected!

To my luck Glenda became such a wonderful & easy going bride.  I had such joy in planning this wedding.  She knew what she liked & knew what she was looking for so planning this wedding was extremely enjoyable.

Her fiance, now husband, George was the sweetest and probably one of the funniest grooms.  He always made us laugh.  I KNEW when I met them that they were perfect for each other.  Good times!

So, without further a do I give you the pictures of their wedding graciously provided by Dahlia Photo.   Dahlia Photo did an absolutely amazing job!  They are both worked as photojournalists for the Houston Chronicle so it’s only natural that their pictures showcase that talent.  Thanks again to Dahlia Photo.

They wanted to incorprate the Latin side to their wedding as it seemed perfect for them since Glenda & George met in a Salsa class!  Yes that’s right!  They met in a  salsa class!
