Beverly + Joe 10.29.11

Dear Happy readers!

I have been wanting to blog about this wedding for such a long time!   This wedding had all the fixins’ of a fun & family wedding!

Beverly & Joe felt that it was very important to have a beautiful & intimate wedding with close family & friends in a setting that was historic & special at the same time.  Her father, who was just the greatest father a bride could have, had previously donated to the park & felt that this was the perfect location to have her event.  She wanted to bring in a “Texas Country Chic” theme to the wedding with beautiful flowers that had that “just picked” look & down home BBQ for many of her out of town guests.

Many of her guests were not from Texas, including the couple, so they felt that BBQ was the best representation of what Texas had to offer! :-)   So we enlisted George Demeris, with Demeris Catering who delighted guests with home town cookin’ and with pecan pie for dessert!

The venue, was the perfect location for this event!  Mixing in historical markers with Houston buildings was the great back drop of fusing the past with the present.  The Texas Heritage Society park is a wonderful historical venue.

We did, however, had a wedding crasher!  That’s right folks, it’s a public park and we can’t deny anyone or any animal from coming into the wedding!  So, a chicken hawk decided to make an appereance right in the middle of the father of the bride speech!  With his meal in tow! Check out the great shots that Dahlia Photo did of this fantastic and unexpected moment.  The father of the bride took it well, shrugged his shoulders, & simply said, “I guess that my cue to end my speech!”

Her father was a sweet man, coming in a checking up on everything, making sure that if we needed anything he was there for us.  He also made the cute table numbers in his workshop.  Now that’s an awesome dad! :-)

Here are a some ABSOLUTELY Fabulous shots from none other than one of my dearest photographer friends, Sharon Steinmann with Dahlia Photo.  She is very journalistic & was able to capture the beauty of the entire event.

Hi Everyone!

Phew!  I’ve had a busy month and lot’s to blog about!  I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to blog about this wedding.

So a little background on Liz & Adam, they were referred to me by former clients, Julie & Chris, and when the mother of the bride & Liz met me they already heard wonderful things about me.  So I must say that the biggest compliment is to receive referrals from past clients. : -)

Liz & Adam decided to get married at the very beautiful St. Vincent’s Catholic Church followed by a reception at the Magnolia Ballroom where beats of yesteryear & hits of today were played well by our wonderful DJ Fransisco Perez of Elegante Entertainment.  Flowers by Lisa with Petals by Design.

There is one person I just NEED to mention.  Her grandmother!  She’s the one dancing in one of the pics.  She was sooo sweet and funny!  I just loved her!  She comes up to me and asks me, “So how do I look for an 85 year old?  Pretty good don’t ya think?  I still got it goin’ on!” :-)   I can only hope that I would be that awesome at her age!

Here are some amazing photos taken by Niki with Photography by Niki.  I must say she and her assistant where so much fun to work with!  They were attentive and made my job fun!  Thanks again Niki!

Courtney + Ben 4.30.10

What can I say about Courtney & Ben? They were such a sweet couple that every minute of the planning was  fun & fantastic!

Along with her SUPER MOM Toni, we planned an amazing event! She and her mom made for an amazing team!  They were such a wonderfully organized duo and knew exactly what they wanted! Watching the cohesion between the two of them and fun that they shared with each other made me SMILE! It warmed my heart and made me think of my little one and wished the same for when she gets married.

Courtney & Ben, congratulations and may you have constant and forever wedding bliss!!!

The wedding & reception was held at the gorgeous Chateau Polonez in Cypress,TX .  We feared that rain would be upon us but prayed and prayed very hard that it stopped literally just in time!!! :-)

Here are some FABULOUS pictures from the amazing Ruven Rivera from Allure Photography.  He was such a pleasure to work with him!  Thanks Rueven!  If you look hard enough you might little old me! ;-)

Napkin folds can create a beautiful ambiance or a dreary drab

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Napkin folds?? What do you mean by that? Why would a napkin fold make or break a beautiful table?

A napkin fold is a very important aspect in creating beautiful tablescapes. To me the typical tri-fold napkin fold is so passe that it can make the event look like a flash back from the 80′s. I wouldn’t even suggest it for any type of event. What happens in a restaurant should stay at the restaurant…:-)

The newest trend in folds is creating a “pocket” of some sort to include the menu card. Another trend is to have it folded nicely laying over the table at each place setting.

You can even rent very nice satin napkins that are quite inexpensive and can really spice up the table without truly breaking the bank. It’s good to find napkins that have the ability to stand up on itself so that if you select a “bird’s of paradise” fold or a “candlestick fold” it will stand the test of time throughout the night.

Check out this site for different types of napkin folds: http://www.weddingdetails.com/planning/napkins.cfm

Linen napkins are best but to add “pop” to the even satin is wonderful.

Here’s some helpful websites that offer satin napkins:

www.partyclothshouston.com

www.covermesatin.com

www.overthetoplinen.com

www.linenhouse.com
They are all located in Houston,TX and not only do they offer napkins but a beautiful linens for tables & chairs.

Happy Planning!

Wonderful websites that help create that one-of-kind weddings

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Last night I got a call from a future bride of mine.  She wants that gorgeous Miami Night Club theme but wanted to find ways to make it work without breaking the budget.  We spoke about centerpieces, linens, decorations, & napkin rings.  In the process of all of this I discovered some unusual and very different websites that give amazing ideas to be creative and personalize your wedding that won’t cost you an arm & a leg to create it.

Here are some sites that I sent over to her and to some of my other clients:

http://www.shopwildthings.com/

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/

And for the kid you try this website.  The price point is better and can serve to purchase simple items that you may need for the wedding.
