Beverly + Joe 10.29.11

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

Dear Happy readers!

I have been wanting to blog about this wedding for such a long time!   This wedding had all the fixins’ of a fun & family wedding!

Beverly & Joe felt that it was very important to have a beautiful & intimate wedding with close family & friends in a setting that was historic & special at the same time.  Her father, who was just the greatest father a bride could have, had previously donated to the park & felt that this was the perfect location to have her event.  She wanted to bring in a “Texas Country Chic” theme to the wedding with beautiful flowers that had that “just picked” look & down home BBQ for many of her out of town guests.

Many of her guests were not from Texas, including the couple, so they felt that BBQ was the best representation of what Texas had to offer! :-)   So we enlisted George Demeris, with Demeris Catering who delighted guests with home town cookin’ and with pecan pie for dessert!

The venue, was the perfect location for this event!  Mixing in historical markers with Houston buildings was the great back drop of fusing the past with the present.  The Texas Heritage Society park is a wonderful historical venue.

We did, however, had a wedding crasher!  That’s right folks, it’s a public park and we can’t deny anyone or any animal from coming into the wedding!  So, a chicken hawk decided to make an appereance right in the middle of the father of the bride speech!  With his meal in tow! Check out the great shots that Dahlia Photo did of this fantastic and unexpected moment.  The father of the bride took it well, shrugged his shoulders, & simply said, “I guess that my cue to end my speech!”

Her father was a sweet man, coming in a checking up on everything, making sure that if we needed anything he was there for us.  He also made the cute table numbers in his workshop.  Now that’s an awesome dad! :-)

Here are a some ABSOLUTELY Fabulous shots from none other than one of my dearest photographer friends, Sharon Steinmann with Dahlia Photo.  She is very journalistic & was able to capture the beauty of the entire event.

Hello Happy readers!

Kelly being a catering manager knew what she liked and what she wanted for her wedding.  Family and close friends were extremely important to her & her fiance.

She was extremely detailed-orientated which is nice!  I love it when brides know what they like and how to accomplish it.  She made sure that every detail was well taken care of.

Flowers were among the most important factors in her wedding.  She wanted the guests to be “WOWED” at her wedding.  This aspect of her wedding was carefully planned out and Rebekah with Dream Bouquet did not let her down.  Her centerpieces were pure beauty and absolutely gorgeous!

Here are a few personal images of the lovely wedding .  Ceremony was held at the lovely West U Methodist church in Houston, TX and the reception held at the Ultra modern, super-chicv – Alden Hotel.  It was such a blast to work there!

Enjoy!  To see a larger image please click on the thumbnail.

To have or not to have? Now, THAT’S a tough question!

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

 Hello Happy readers!

So, I find that many brides & their mothers deal with a very difficult decision at every wedding.  This issue has caused great grief amongst friends & family members.  What is it??  To allow children at the wedding or not.

Yes, that’s right folks this can cause alot of stress on your wedding.  Having children at the wedding has it’s pros & cons.

Pros:  A wedding wouldn’t be a wedding without little children.  Right?  ; -)  They bring joy & happiness to every wedding and for some reason always can keep the party going with their rambucious and happy personalities.  They make for the cutest little dance partners and photographers LOVE photographing them!  They represent our future!

Cons:  But they run around, pull out flowers out of centerpieces, place their cute little fingers on the cake, eat all the party favors with candy, whine, cry, yell, eat on the floor, throw flower petals on the carpet and smush their cute little feet to make pretty little designs on the carpet, or the most popular one; go underneath the buffet table to play “tent” under sternos, chafers, knives, spoons…OH YES!!  Note:  I have a little one so I know from experience! :-)

So, what do to?! Oh my!  What to do???  Well, I recently attended a fundraising gala at the Magnolia Hotel in Downtown Houston.  It was going to be a lovely event, however I was not sure I was going to be able to attend since my little one was going to be with me.   I was worried who I was going to leave her with.

Well no worries!!  The event offered on-site sitters for the event!  Yay!!!  I was sooo happy and excited to know that I could safely bring my child to event and someone was going to play with her, do activities with her, dance & have fun with other children!

So, the million dollar question:  Who was this amazing sitting service that they provided?  On-site Wedding & Event sitters!  Cher (the owner) did a MAGNIFICENT job with my daughter and with all the little ones there.  She had activities for them, danced with them, and played games with them!  My daughter enjoyed the time she had with Cher & her the new friends she made.

So, don’t fret my dears!  On-Site Sitters are here!  Make your event stressfree for not only yourself but for those parents who want to join in your celebration and not have to sacrifice in having one stay at home OR finding a good sitter at home.  In this way your children will be with you always.

On-Site Sitters for me have been a heaven sent!

Happy reading!

Erin + Matt 12.18.10

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Hello happy readers!

Well, what can I tell you about the OH SO LOVELY Erin & her DASHING husband Matt?  That they were fun?  That they were always laughing?  Always smiling, and hugging, and kissing?  That they made me laugh?  That they were FULL OF LIFE & fun stories?  Yeah, that about sums it up about the two of them.

They are such a truly fun-loving couple and every minute with them was a blast!  Her mom, Donna, was just as amazing as Erin was!  Even my daughter still talks about her and wishes to see Ms. Donna again! :-)

Erin & Matt had thought long and hard about the color scheme & theme that they were going to do for this wedding.  They decided that using the colors of the peacock, PERFECTLY reflected that style, grace, and total goofiness.  So with the help of some amazing vendors, they created this sweet & colorful wedding filled with a gorgeous candy buffet, peppermint martinis (YUM!) and luscious colors of linen & flowers by Bill with Floral Events.

At the end of the night instead of bubbles, sparklers…the norm, they decided to do white pom poms!  It was more a of “dance off” as they danced their way to the Black Swan at the gorgeous Omni Hotel Riverway to keep the party going!

Here are some amazing and absolutely gorgeous pictures from the renowned David Jones with David Jones Photography!  He was an absolute blast to work with and enjoyed every minute of this wedding!  Thanks again David!

Samantha + Alex 11.13.10

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

I am very excited to blog about this one! This was a beautiful wedding where love was flowing throughout the ENTIRE process and on their wedding day!! To see the love that Samantha & Alex had for each other was one of the most beautiful sites to see!

So a little history of this amazing off-beat couple. I had met Samantha at a wedding I had coordinated about a year ago. She was the crossbearer for Carolina & Steve’s wedding. We had met there and she told me that she would contact me she was going to plan her wedding. I love it when people tell me that! :-)

We hit it off the very first time her, Alex, & I met. We spent hours talking about her dream wedding. It was like talking to two very close friends! It was kismet! We discussed different ideas and a couple of ideas where thrown into the hat:
* Miami night club theme
* Renaissance theme
* Halloween theme
* Twilight Vampire theme
* Asian Gothic theme

As you can see they had ALOT of great and interesting ideas! They wanted their wedding to be THEIR wedding. They wanted it to reflect their personalities & styles and wanted the world to see and they contracted me to create their vision.

After a hard and long process of figuring out what they wanted, they finally decided on the color scheme; red, black, & white.  So they took that color theme throughout the whole process, from the draping to the flowers, everything reflected that same color scheme.  As we still tried to figure out their theme…:-)  Final verdict?  Mr. Devil & Mrs. Angel getting married in Old Hollywood! :-)

Now, I must discuss the cakes:  WOW!! Their cakes definitely showed their personalties.  Samantha wanted BLING!!  Wanted the cake to shine & shimmer & Edible Designs by Jessie did NOT dissappoint!  Alex wanted something different, something BOLD, something that reflected his interests.  Now, mind you most brides would not be happy to ablige the groom’s idea of a groom’s cake.  But not Samantha, she wanted to make him happy.  She loved him eternally and unconditionally, so if he wanted a cake with dancers on it, well his wish was her command!

As the evening wore on, the couple decided to incorporate their Mexican culture by have the “Vibora” song play.  This is where the bride & groom stand on a chair & the groom holds the bride’s veil while guests ran under it as fast as they could.  Let’s just say that it was definitely a site to see! Fransico Perez with Elegante Entertainment had the crowd on their feet the whole night!

Everything about this wedding was different and amazing.  I must say that the vendors TRULY outdid themselves at this wedding.  From the DJ, draping, cake, chocolate fountain, photographer, floral, & reception facility, no one ceased to amaze the couple!  I am happy to say the wedding went FABULOUSLY!

I want to thank the following for truly making this wedding the dream come true for the couple.  Without them it would have NOT happened.

Thank you to the following additional vendors:

Carmen Floral Designs

Techave

Houston Party Booths

Chocolate Fountain Express

Thank you all and I want to with Samantha & Alex a wonderfully happy life filled with love & lots of little ones! XOXO!!

Sincerely

Mandi + Andre 10.29.10

Saturday, December 18th, 2010

I’ve been waiting for awhile to blog about this one!  This wedding was just beautiful!

Mandi was one of those brides that pick me right over the phone!  I love those! :-)   At the time she was living in another city and wanted so much to do the wedding in Houston, but knew that planning it from another city would be challenging.  So with a little help from me, I scoured the city to find the perfect place for her.  I visited, took pictures, & reported back to her.  And based on my pictures and packages that they offered, she selected the BEAUTIFUL Bell Tower!  I had a blast searching for venues and I must say ALL OF THEM where so sweet & hospitable!

The vendors that she selected are among the best I recommend.  I love it when brides use my vendors as I know the event will go Flawless!

Mandi & Andre were such a GORGEOUS couple!  I don’t think she nor him could take a bad picture.  Every picture of Mandi was breathtaking!

So as they danced the night away, Rueven, with Allure photography shot the day with absolute perfection!  He always does a wonderful job at capturing the day.  Thanks Rueven for these amazing pictures for the world to see!  Enjoy!!

Lauren + Bryan 8.21.10

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Hello Everyone!
I can’t wait to blog about this one! Lauren & Bryan were such a young, fun-loving, & super happy couple! They decided that having an outdoor ceremony at the Cohen House in Rice University was the perfect location for this couple.

After the ceremony guests wined & dined the night away with some rockin’ music by the Groom’s cousin, Stephen Frazier.  It was a family event where everyone participated from the singers at the ceremony to the Father of the Groom gettin’ down with his old college band! Everyone danced the night away!  It was nice to see the Father of the Groom having fun at his son’s wedding! :-)

Here are some personal pictures of the wedding.  It was a blast to coordinate this event & a blast to be a part of it! Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Candice + Kenneth 9.4.10

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Hi Everyone!
I had the pleasure of coordinating a fun wedding in Highlands, TX.  Candice & Kenneth wanted to have the ceremony & reception in the mother of bride’s home.

This was a fun wedding! They incorporated the color purple & the outdoor cowboy theme bringing in a little bit of Texas with a twist!  In order to soften the area a bit they decided to drape certain areas for a softer look.  Thanks to Angela with Techave Inc  they did just that!

I enjoyed planning this fun & whimsical wedding. From the flowers to the cake everything tied in well. Enjoy a few of my personal pics!
