When I first met Jessica & her mother I felt I had met a dear old friend.  They were such a wonderful mother/daughter duo that I enjoyed working with.  We had alot of fun!  From eating cake to attending the tasting it was NEVER a dull moment!  I was even invited to Jessica’s bridal shower and rehearsal dinner.  I felt like part of the family!

Napkin folds can create a beautiful ambiance or a dreary drab

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Napkin folds?? What do you mean by that? Why would a napkin fold make or break a beautiful table?

A napkin fold is a very important aspect in creating beautiful tablescapes. To me the typical tri-fold napkin fold is so passe that it can make the event look like a flash back from the 80′s. I wouldn’t even suggest it for any type of event. What happens in a restaurant should stay at the restaurant…:-)

The newest trend in folds is creating a “pocket” of some sort to include the menu card. Another trend is to have it folded nicely laying over the table at each place setting.

You can even rent very nice satin napkins that are quite inexpensive and can really spice up the table without truly breaking the bank. It’s good to find napkins that have the ability to stand up on itself so that if you select a “bird’s of paradise” fold or a “candlestick fold” it will stand the test of time throughout the night.

Check out this site for different types of napkin folds: http://www.weddingdetails.com/planning/napkins.cfm

Linen napkins are best but to add “pop” to the even satin is wonderful.

Here’s some helpful websites that offer satin napkins:

www.partyclothshouston.com

www.covermesatin.com

www.overthetoplinen.com

www.linenhouse.com
They are all located in Houston,TX and not only do they offer napkins but a beautiful linens for tables & chairs.

Happy Planning!

Caterer- Drop in VS. Full Service

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

When looking for a caterer for your wedding it’s always important to find the best one that fits your budget, taste amazing, and will provide the best service available.

With that in mind, would definitely suggest rather recommend that you select a full service caterer for your next event.

Let’s look at both sides:
Drop In Caterer:

  • They just drop the food and leave.
  • They don’t have linens, chafers, or utensils available which means you would have to rent.
  • You would have to rent everything from silverware, plates, chafers, linens, staffing, decorations..etc.
  • They do not clean up.

Full Service Caterer:

  • They provide you with staffing to serve the food, set up, clean up, and run the bar.
  • They offer a larger variety of items for you to use such as linens and silverware.
  • You have a on-site captain to oversee the entire event to ensure proper service.
  • Cake cutting is included with most caterers.

So for about the same price or just a tad bit more you will find that hiring a full service caterer will save you from all the headaches of hiring staff, setting up, or cleaning up your own wedding. Do you really want to be throwing away trash in your gorgeous wedding dress? Or any of your guests for that matter?

So my vote of course is for the full service caterer!

I highly recommend you!

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

I recently received a wonderful referral from one of my old clients. It has been at least 1 1/2 years and she still remembers the wonderful job I had done for her! I was amazed that people still remember their wedding planner and it was such an honor to do her wedding. I had planned the wedding with her and her mother! Finalizing the details down to the minute to make her event as she says ..”FLAWLESS! ”

Hey Audrey,

I was a bridesmaid in my cousin’s wedding over the weekend, and I have to say
that I HIGHLY recommend you! The vendors you referred us to and the quality
of your service are unsurpassed. After her wedding I had to sit down and type my
wedding manifesto, to pass along to any friends who get engaged in Houston in the
future. I LOVED your work, and have to say that my wedding is still the best wedding
I’ve ever been to!

Coordinator: Audrey Hu Gonzalez – Wedding coordinator with flexible packages – from all inclusive to wedding week only. Extremely competitive pricing, and you’ll save way more than you pay her to do her job with the cost saving vendors she recommends. She was FANTASTIC! We were not planning to have a coordinator, but after meeting her the deal was sealed! You really will save more than you pay her!

Thanks Renee! I so appreciate it!

Gelato Anyone?

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

I am coordinating a wedding coming up in May and they have decided to do a Gelato Station! Yes that’s right folks, you to can rent your very own Gelato station and amaze your friends! At roughly $3-$4 per person, not including staffing, you can have a variety of flavors such as Chocolate Mint, Vanilla, Strawberry, Espresso Chocolate and so much more! Yumm!! You can even select flavors that match your wedding such as Pistachio and Chocolate to match your Green & Chocolate colors. It adds a nice & tasty treat for the guests to enjoy after the cake. For more information check out this company: www.piccomolo.com!

Thanks again and Happy Reading!
